Introduction <\/strong><\/h3>

Established in 1962 by Fr. \u00c1ureo Castro, the Academia de M\u00fasica S. Pio X, under the Macau Catholic Diocese, is the first music school in Macau providing systematic musical training for talented young people.\u00a0<\/p>

The Academia stresses music and arts education as an integral part of holistic education.\u00a0 Learning music will improve a child\u2019s ability to think, reason, create, and express; as well as develop coordination, self-esteem and social skills. The Academia has a supportive, stimulating environment and a team of experienced, dedicated teachers, and pupils are encouraged to learn how to concentrate, listen, and engage their imagination with music.\u00a0 A high number of students go on to study music at university level, and many who chose to pursue professional careers in medicine, science, law etc continue to have a serious love for music.\u00a0<\/p>

The curriculum is designed to give students a balanced exposure to the discipline of music.\u00a0 In addition to the regular instrumental tuition and musicianship classes, students have many opportunities to take part in different performances in the Academia and outside concert venues.\u00a0 The Academia also regularly organizes masterclasses, lectures, workshops and concerts by distinguished musicians and artists which are open to the public.<\/p>

In September 2021, the Academia had relocated to Rua da Praia do Bom Parto (the former Matteo Ricci College Primary Section). Additional space, resources and facilities in the new campus will enable the Academia to develop strategically in many areas, and further contribute to the cultural aspirations of Macau. \u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0Academia Motto<\/strong><\/h3>

The Academia has adopted the Chinese motto\u300c\u4ee5\u6a02\u8f09\u9053\uff0c\u4ee5\u5fb7\u60df\u99a8\u300d(\u2018Let Music be the Path to Truth, Let Virtue be the Source of Grace) which refers to the cultivation of universal virtues that are the basis for the development of a meaningful life. It is the aim of the Academia to help its students develop to the best of their ability in music and to support their intellectual, social and personal growth.<\/p>

  1. The completed application form signed by the parent\/guardian, with a recent photo of the applicant taken within the last 6 months;<\/li>
  2. One photocopy of the applicant\u2019s School Reports of the current academic year (if unable to present, the most recent copy of the School Reports is also accepted);<\/li>
  3. One photocopy of reports and certificates of any instrumental and theory examinations taken (e.g. ABRSM, Trinity College London);<\/li>
  4. Application fee of each course is MOP100 (in cash and non-refundable).<\/li><\/ol>

    Entry is competitive by audition.\u00a0 Musical potential, suitability for the course, and the number of places available, are all taken into consideration.<\/p>
